Besides his wife, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. B. Rybiski, of this city, and a brother, Charles N. Gaudet, of New Orleans. Mr Gaudet was born in St James parish 63 years ago, his parents being Ursin Gaudet and Carmelite LeBlanc, members of prominent families of that parish. Young Gaudet was educated at Spring Hill College of Mobile, Alabama. Returning home he joined Captain Ratcliff's Company, of Lafourche, and served during the remainder of the war. After the conflict, Mr Gaudet's services as manager and overseer of sugar plantations were much in demand, and he was for some years in the employ of the late Leon Godchaux. His first wife was Miss Lucie Lanoix, who died soon after their marriage. In 1895 Mr Gaudet moved to this parish where he has resided since. For many years deceased was the traveling representative of the Singer Sewing Machine Company, and, as such was known by many residents of the Coast. After establishing his residence here, Mr Gaudet married Mrs Corinne Marie Barre, who survives him. Deceased leaves a brother, Mr C W Gaudet, a well-known druggist of New Orleans and a sister, Mrs Cecile Rybisky of Donaldsonville, and two half- brothers, J H and Philip Mathieu of Lake Charles, La. The funeral services were held at St John the Baptist Church, Rev Father Prudhomme officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Barre tomb. To the bereaved family we offer our sincere sympathy.
