J. Gaudin, the bright young son of Charles Gaudin, of this city, passed away at the family residence in Houma street, Thursday morning at 3 o'clock, after an illness of 11 days, a victim of influenza and pneumonia, aged 15 years, 9 months and 24 days. Deceased was a very intelligent and energetic youth; a student of St. Joseph's Commercial Institute, and head newsboy and collector for The Chief. He was of a quiet and studious disposition and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. His death coming at such an early period in his promising young life, has proven a great shock to his family and large circle of friends. The funeral took place Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock with services at the Catholic church and interment in the Catholic cemetery. He leaves to mourn his untimely demise, his father, four sisters, Misses Maria, Mag, Felicie and Edith, and two brothers, Leo J. and Louis, the former being in the army. To them The Chief extends its sincere sympathy in their great bereavement.
