Gleason. - Mrs. George N. Gleason, of Whitecastle, died at 11 o'clock Wednesday night at the New Orleans Sanitarium, to which institution she had been taken Wednesday afternoon to undergo a surgical operation, after having been dangerously ill at her home in Whitecastle for several days. The remains were brought to Donaldsonville on the 12:11 p. m. T. and P. train Thursday, and the funeral took place at 3 o'clock from the T. and P. depot. Services were held at the Episcopal church, Rev. Quincy Ewing of Napoleonville officiating, and interment was made in the Cantey tomb in the Protestant cemetery. Mrs. Gleason's husband, George N. Gleason, is general superintendent of the swamps and railroads for the Whitecastle Lumber and Shingle Company, and the mill of that concern was shut down in order to permit the employees to attend the funeral. Mrs. Gleason, who was formerly Miss Cantey, of Burnside, was forty years of age and had been twice married. Her first husband, Victor Wintz, preceded her to the grave twenty years ago. From this union she leaves a daughter, Miss Margaret Wintz, and a son, Victor Wintz, of Burton. The surviving offspring of her union with Mr. Gleason are Misses Mamie and Katie, and Samuel, Alvin, Willie, Charles and Geo. Gleason, all of Whitecastle. To these afflicted ones The Chief begs leave to tender assurances of sincere sympathy.
