Himel, Sr., a United States deputy collector of internal revenue, holding the position of account clerk, or bookkeeper, in the office of that department in the New Orleans customhouse, died from a sudden attack of heart disease shortly after 9 o'clock Monday morning while waiting for the west-bound passenger train at the T. and P. depot in this town. Mr. Himel was apparently in good health, and just as he arrived at the depot, in response to an inquiry by a friend as to how he felt, he replied that he was feeling very well. A few minutes later he was observed to turn pale and was assisted to a bench near-by, where he sat down and immediately fell forward and died. The body was taken to the undertaking establishment of Lafargue & Himel to be prepared for burial, and was sent to Whitecastle on the 11:22 a.m. T. and P. train. The funeral occurred from Mr. Himel's late home in Whitecastle at 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, interment being made in the cemetery at that place. Mr. Himel was 51 years, 1 month and 16 days of age, and enjoyed the esteem of a wide circle of friends. Years ago he was a steamboat collector, and at one time a steamboat clerk. He was for a long time a traveling salesman, but since 1902 had been in the internal revenue office in New Orleans, having been placed in charge of accounts by Collector of Internal Revenue W.E. Howell. Mr. Himel is survived by a wife, four children, William F. Himel, Jr., Mrs. Irving J. Fowler, Miss May Himel and Robert Himel, and two brothers, Taylor and Charles, of the parish of Assumption. William Himel, Jr., is at present assistant postmaster at Plaquemine.
