HAMILTON. - The sad intelligence was received here by telegram, yesterday evening, of the death of Mr. Wm. Hamilton of New Orleans, son-in- law of Widow A. J. Sharp and brother-in-law of Mrs. C. Kline and Mrs. Victor Maurin of Donaldsonville. The telegram was dated at New Orleans, addressed to Mr. C. kline and signed by Messrs. Edwards & Haubtman, by whom Mr. Hamilton was employed. No particulars regarding the mournful event are given, the wording of the dispatch being, "Wm. Hamilton died at 1 o'clock to-day. Come immediately." We tender our deep sympathy to the bereaved young widow and relatives whose hearts will be so sorely tried by this great and sudden calamity. The blow has fallen upon them with cruel unexpectedness, as Mr. Hamilton was in perfect health when his relatives here last heard of him, a few days ago; and the inference is that his death was caused either by an accident or some such natural affection as heart disease or apoplexy. Deceased was a most estimable gentleman in every respect, and was esteemed and admired by all who knew him. source: The Donaldsonville Chief. [volume] (Donaldsonville, La.) 1871- current, June 09, 1883, Image 3 The cause of the death of Mr. Wm. Hamilton, whose sudden demise we reported in our last issue, was an attack of apoplexy. He had been in Texas, putting up a complete outfit of machinery in a new sugar-house for his employers, Messrs. Edward & Haubtman, and arrived at his home in New Orleans on Friday, the 1st. inst., about 9:30 A. M. He ate a hearty breakfast at 10:30, and one hour later was stricken with apoplexy, breathing his last at 1 o'clock, only three hours and a half after his return. The bereavement of the young wife was intensified by the circumstances attending the sad death of her estimable husband, and the heartfelt sympathy of all her relatives, friends and acquaintances will surround her in the great sorrow which has fallen to her lot. Mrs. Hamilton has returned to Donaldsonville and will reside with her mother, widow A. J. Sharp. We trust that the tender condolence of loving kindred and friends and the healing influences of time will soon enable her to contemplate with resignation the cruel event which has clad her in widow's weeds so soon after she donned the bridal wreath and veil.
