[volume] (Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, February 18, 1922, Image 4 Stepney Houmas, an aged colored man, died at his home in this ctiy (sic) this morning at 4 o'clock after an illness of several weeks, aged 75 years. For several years he was employed as butler by the late J. C. Cofield, then owner of the Point Houmas plantation, and in recent years worked as a field hand on plantations in this vicinity and did odd jobs in gardens and yards in this city and neighborhood. He was a hard worker and was liked by both white and colored people. The funeral took place this afternoon at 4 o'clock. Services were held at the Nazarene Baptist church.
