[volume] (Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, June 17, 1882, Sat., Image 3 Died. - LANDRY - At Mulberry Grove, Ascension parish, on Sunday, June 11, 1882, at 5 o'clock A. M., MARIE EDA DUFFEL, wife of E. Fernand Landry. Another of earth's brightest gems has been taken from our midst; one month a mother, when lo! the King of Terror came and cast his dark and hideous shadow over that fond young mother, and claimed her for his own. Oh! no language can express the deep feelings of anguish and sorrow when the sad news of her untimely end reached her friends; it fell upon them like a pall, and became the source of a lasting sorrow. Oh! how much she regretted leaving her infant baby, how sad she looked as she clasped her in her arms and said, "My darling little baby, how can I leave you!" Then she raised her eyes towards her husband and faintly said, "Fernand, I did not think we would part so soon." To her idolized father she was a comfort. Weep not, kind father, but live with the hope of meeting your cherished daughters in that bright and beautiful world where sorrow and care are ne'er known, and where ye shall part no more. Beloved Eda! thy spirit has fled to a world more beautiful than this. Alas! why so many burning tears shed when we know thou art in bliss?
