Raymond Landry. - J.Raymond Landry, a native and life-long resident of this parish, died at the home of his parents on the west bank of the Mississippi river, about one mile below Donaldsonville, at 11 o'clock p. m. Sunday, aged 36 years and 4 months. Mr. Landry had been an invalid for several years, and not-withstanding every effort of medical skill he grew steadily worse and gradually approached his end, which came to him quietly and without a struggle. His remains were laid to rest in the Donaldsonville Catholic cemetery at 4:15 o'clock Monday afternoon after services at the Church of the Sacred Heart conducted by Rev. Father Crozier. The funeral was attended by delegations from Olive Camp, No. 18, W. O. W., Major Victor St. Martin Camp No. 126, U.S.C.V., and Major Victor Maurin Camp No. 38, U.C.V. Mr. Landry was a devoted father, a loyal friend and an exemplary citizen, and the announcement of his death has carried sadness to the hearts of a wide circle of friends. He served as justice of the peace of the fifth ward justice court for a number of years, and just prior to the time when he was incapacitated by illness had accepted a position as levee inspector in the employ of the Lafourche Basin Levee Board. He is survived by a wife, three young chidren (sic), Leona, Aristide and Marie Landry; a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Landry, Sr.,; three brothers, L. A. Landry, Jr., Robert and Gilbert Landry, and three sisters, Misses Armantine, Emma and Amanda Landry. To the bereaved family The Chief begs leave to tender assurances of profound sympathy.
