H. Landry - Last week, Mr. M. H. Landry, of Donaldsonville, died. The deceased was well known all along bayou Lafourche and the coast, having been clerk on the different bayou packets for 35 years. He was also a member of the company of Lafourche Guards that was organized in Thibodaux in 1861, and served throughout the war having, by force of his soldierly qualities, been promoted to a lieutenancy in that gallant company. The deceased was beloved by all who knew him, having always captured the friendship of any one with whom he came in contact, and ever after retaining it. The confederate soldiers are passing away. Time is whitening the locks of those gallant youths who left comfortable homes to suffer hunger, fatigue, wounds and imprisonment under the flag of the Lost Cause. All that the survivors can do is to drop a tear over their tombs, and cover their quiet homes with the bright flowers of Hope.
