(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, September 30, 1916, page 3 Mrs. Lambert LeBlanc Passes After Surgical Operation. - Mrs. Lambert LeBlanc, nee [ink smudge] Dugas, a native and life-long resident of the Smoke Bend settlement of Ascension parish, died at the Charity Hospital in New Orleans at 3:15 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, following a protracted surgical operation. She was placed under an anesthetic at 9 a. m. and remained on the operating table more than three hours. The ordeal proved more than she could withstand in her weakened condition, death ensuing a few hours after the completion of the operation. Her body was brought to Donaldsonville Wednesday night and conveyed to her late home in Smoke Bend, from whence the funeral took place at 3:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Services were held at the St. Francis of Assisium Church in Smoke Bend, and interment was made in the Donaldsonville Catholic cemetery. The funeral cortege was an unusually long, one hundreds of sorrowing friends having gathered to accompany the remains to their final resting place and pay the last sad tribute of respect to the memory of the lamented deceased. Mrs. LeBlanc had attained the age of 39 years, 6 months abd 27 days. She was a woman of exalted character and attractive personality, and was greatly beloved and admired by all who knew her. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Joseph Richard, issue of a former marriage; her mother, Mrs. A. C. Dugas; four sisters, Mrs. Jackson Falcon, Mrs. Nick Corbo, Mrs. Leon Alonzo, and Miss Alice Dugas; and five brothers, Messrs. Abel, Eloi, Henry, Emile and Elphege Dugas. Many hearts will be saddened by the taking away of this estimable young woman, and every resident of the community will share with the sorrow-stricken family the burden of grief that has come upon them.
