Mr. LeBlanc ruptured a blood vessel a week or two ago while in the act of ringing the plantation bell to call the hands to work, but had apparently recovered from the injury and was not believed to be in any danger. He is supposed to have overtaxed himself, however, soon after arising at 4 o'clock a.m. last Sunday, thereby causing a second hemorrhage which terminated fatally a little while later. The remains were brought to Donaldsonville on the 11:35 o'clock T. and P. train Monday forenoon, and after services at the Church of the Ascension were laid to rest in the LeBlanc family tomb in the Catholic cemetery. Mr. LeBlanc was 45 years of age, and was a son of the late J. Elphege LeBlanc, for many years manager of the Belle Terre plantation in Assumption parish. he is survived by his wife, mother, five brothers - Capt. J.V. LeBlanc of Comeaux- LeBlanc Packet Company; George, Cass, Fernand and Anthony LeBlanc - and three sisters, Misses Louisa and Theresa LeBlanc of New Orleans, and Mrs. Ambrose Folse, wife of the overseer of the Salsburg plantation in upper St. James. To these afflicted ones the sincere sympathy of an unusually wide circle of friends and acquaintances is extended. The flags of the steamer J.E. Trudeau and other packets lying in the New Orleans harbor were placed at half-mast out of respect to the memory of Mr. LeBlanc.
