(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, September 23, 1882, page 3 In Memoriam. - DIED - At Smoke Bend, Ascension, Tuesday, Sept. 19, 1882, at 7:50 o'clock A.M., GUSTAVE LeBLANC, a native of Ascension, aged 27 years and 6 months. California, New Orleans and St. Louis papers also Assumption Pioneer and St. James Louisianais (sic), please copy. But wherefore weep? His matchless spirit soars Beyond where splendid shines the orb of day; And weeping angels lead hin (sic) to those bowers Where endless pleasures virtue's deeds repay. As the dawn of day was drawing near, Gustave perceived his death-angel calling him to the kingdom of his Father, the Almighty. Before the prayers were finished, he was borne on golden wings of his death-angel to a higher sphere where joy forever dwells. He died like a hero in the zenith of his glory. He leaves three children and a devoted wife to mourn his untimely departure. The writer tenders his heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family.
