Last Sunday morning, Dec. 2, after a beautifully useful and sweetly unassuming life, Mrs. Leon Levi peacefully surrendered her pure soul to God. Mrs. Levi exemplified in every act the highest type of noble womanhood, and her true christian life that was founded upon that sweetest of all virtues, charity - in the true and grandest acceptation of the term; charity of the heart, of soul, of speech; the charity that saw no evil, thought and spoke none; the charity that was ever seeking for the best in others - was a benediction and an inspiration to all who knew her. During her protracted illness she received the administrations of the faithful pastor of her church, and of the most skilled physicians; was tenderly nursed by kind and capable hands, while her devoted husband, beloved mother, sisters, brother and friends lavished every attention possible. To her, death came not as the "Grim Reaper," but as a sweet, soothing angel that bore her spirit gently away to the beautiful life eternal. Her body wrapped in its snowy robe, her lovely face in the purity of its exquisite whiteness, with the sweet expression of peaceful tranquility that rested there, was a fit emblem of the beautiful, purified soul that had taken its flight to its Maker. Her death was a shock to her many friends, who, with numerous and beautiful floral offerings, came from town and country to assist with the last sad rites; but her family knew in the beginning of her illness that her malady was fatal - knew that she was hovering on and would soon cross over the great borderland of eternity; knew that she loved, too well, the happy life given her to enjoy, to rejoice in her untimely loss of it, so they for that reason purposly (sic) with- held from her the cruel knowledge. Her life was happy because she reveled in the goodness and beauty of the world; the world that her presence made better and brighter; the beautiful world that God gave for her to love, to enjoy and improve, because she loved her fellow friend whose respect and confidence she had gained; loved the innocent prattle of little children and the joyous songs and happy laughter of impulsive youth, and her world loved her. Her remains were gently borne to their last resting place by her beloved brother, George H. Richard; her fond nephews, Hubert and Sammy Richard and Joe Blum; and her two brothers-in-law, J.E. Blum and Jas. Barman. Mrs. Levi is survived by her husband, her mother, Mrs. Armand Richard, one brother and three sisters, Mrs. J.E. Blum, Mrs. Joseph Lafargue and Mrs. James Barman, all of Donaldesonville. Her life closed sweetly and as quietly beautiful as a golden sunset with infinite hope, infinite courage, infinite love for God and her neighbor. - A FRIEND.
