Death of Mrs. Arthur Lolan. - Mrs. Arthur Lolan, nee Anastasie Martin, a native 
of Assumption parish, died at her husband's home in Faubourg la Pipe at 9:50 
o'clock Monday night, after a long illness, aged fifty-six years, six months and 
nine days. The funeral took place at 4 o'clock p.m. Tuesday and was largely 
attended, sorrowing friends having gathered from near and far to participate in 
the obsequies and accompany the remains to their last resting place. Services 
were conducted at the Ascension Church by Rev. L.G. Baudin and interment was 
made in the Catholic cemetery.

Mrs. Lolan was a woman of attractive personality and true Christian character, 
and occupied a high place in the esteem and affection of all who had the 
pleasure of knowing her. It may truly be said without the usual kindly 
exaggeration that her demise will prove a distinct loss to the community in 
which she lived and carry lasting sorrow to the hearts of an exceptionally wide 
circle of friends and acquaintances.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Lolan is survived by seven children: Mrs. Laurent 
Michel and Mrs. J.M. Melancon of Dorceyville; Mrs. Leo Blouin, of 
Donaldsonville; Miss Irene Lolan, of Faubourg la Pipe; Samuel and Octave Lolan, 
of Garden City, La, and Ernest Lolan, of this city. To these afflicted ones The 
Chief tenders assurances of sincere sympathy.
