(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, January 09, 1909, page 2 Death of John Mills Lusk. - (Communicated). - At his home in Gonzales, Ascension parish, on Saturday, Jan. 2, John Mills Lusk passed into eternity. Mr. Lusk was the son of Zachariah Lusk and Elizabeth Mills, and was born in West Feliciana parish Oct. 1, 1828. He moved to Ascension at the age of nine years and assisted in building the home in which he spent the remainder of his life. He was married to Henriette Boudreau on Feb. 4, 1856, and the golden wedding anniversary of the well mated and devoted pair was celebrated with much eclat (sic) three years ago. Mr. Lusk was elected to the office of justice of the peace of his ward March 1, 1875, and served in that capacity to the time of his death. He was a veteran of the civil war, having fought in the Confederate army during the entire period of the sanguinary struggle. His death, while not untimely, proved a shock to the community in which he lived and carried lasting sorrow to the hearts of an exceptionally wide circle of friends and acquaintances. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. M.E. Barman, and a granddaughter, Miss Idie O. Barman.
