(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871 - current, February 06, 1909, Image 2 Death of Mrs. Adlard Landry. - Mrs. Adlard Landry, nee Octavie Vives, died at the residence of her husband at Philadelphia Point, in the upper portion of the parish, at 4:30 o'clock a. m. Thursday, aged sixty five years. Mrs. Landry was taken suddenly ill about 4 o'clock Thursday morning and Dr. John D. Hanson was telephoned for, but before he could reach the bedside of the sufferer the Angel of Death had snuffed out the candle of her life and borne her spotless soul aloft to its Maker. The funeral took place at 10 o'clock Friday forenoon, with services at the St. Francis of Assissium church in Smoke Bend and interment in the Donaldsonville Catholic cemetery. Besides her husband, who is a retired sugar planter and one of the oldest and most highly esteemed citizens of the parish, Mrs. Landry is survived by an adopted son, George Vives, chief engineer of the Willswood sugar factory in Jefferson parish; three half-sisters, Mesdames A. D. Vega, J. F. Fernandez and H. A. Terrio, of Donaldsonville, and two half-brothers, Messrs. Camille and Octave Vives, also of this city. To these afflicted ones The Chief begs leave to tender assurances of sincere sympathy.
