Died. 

MARCHAND. - In Crevasse Settlement, parish of Ascension, La., on Tuesday, May 
25, 1886, MELANIE MARCHAND, a native of this parish, aged 18 years and 8 
months.

Deceased was a sister of our esteemed friend Alex Marchand, Esq., and was a 
young lady greatly esteemed for her many amiable qualities. She had been sick 
but a short time, and her death has been a heavy blow to numerous relatives and 
friends. The funeral, which took place Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock, was 
largely attended. The mortal remains of the fair young girl were laid to rest 
in the Donaldsonville Catholic cemetery.
