(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, May 21, 1910, page 5 Death of Ernest Marchand. - Ernest Marchand, a native and life-long resident of Ascension parish, died at his home on Palo Alto plantation at 6:25 o'clock p.m. Thursday, after a brief illness, aged fifty-seven years, four months and fourteen days. The funeral took place yesterday at 4 o'clock, interment being made in the Catholic cemetery in this city after impressive services at Ascension church. A large gathering of relatives and friends accompanied the remains to their last resting place, including a delegation from Kenneth Lodge No. 41, K. of P., of which organization deceased was a valued and zealous member. Mr. Marchand was the keeper of the boarding-house on Palo Alto plantation, having been engaged in this undertaking for the past six or seven years. He was a man of genial personality and many admirable traits of character, and possessed in high degree the confidence, esteem and respect of all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, to whom profound sympathy is extended.
