Relentless Death Claims Lovable Young Woman of East Ascension. Truly sad was the untimely taking away of Miss Earline M. Marchand, daughter of John A. Marchand and Lorena G. Carver, of Natchitoches, who responded to death's stern call Sunday, Dec. 9, at 3 o'clock p. m., in New Orleans. In the morning of life, fragrant with the joy of living and roseate with the happiness of young womanhood, she fell asleep to open her eyes in Paradise. To be thus taken in the flower of youth is indeed a grievous blow to her dear ones, but may they be consoled by the knowledge of the heavenly reward she has earned through the purity of her life, and the Christian's undying hope of everlasting reunion beyond the portals of the tomb. Miss Marchand was born at Prairieville, in this parish, May 31, 1890. Her remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery at that place Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 11 a. m., the funeral obsequies being attended by a throng of sorrowing relatives and friends who gathered from all sections to pay life's final tribute of respect to the memory of one so worthy of their esteem and affection. The impressive burial rites of the Catholic religion were performed by Rev. Father J. C. Gonon, pastor of the Cornerview church. Besides her grief-stricken parents, Miss Marchand is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. A. B. Corey, Evie and Harold Marchand, of Gonzales; John A. Marchand, Jr., of Baton Rouge, and Sidney A. Marchand, of Donaldsonville. The sympathy of an extensive circle of friends and acquaintances goes out to the sorely bereaved family.
