We omitted to mention last week the death of Miss Aimee Maurin, aged 17 years, 
daughter of the late lamented Major Victor Maurin, which distressing occurrence 
took place on the 29th ultimo, at the family residence in Donaldsonville. The 
visitations of the Angel of Death are mournful under any circumstances, but 
particularly so when youth and beauty are stricken down by its blighting touch. 
Out of regard for the memory and family of their old commander, the Cannoneers 
attended the funeral in a body and uniformed.
