McManus. - Mrs. James Lewis McManus, nee Mary Anne Bradford, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. D.W. Wolf, in Hammond, at 3 o'clock a.m. last Monday, aged 86 years. The funeral took place at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, interment being made in the Methodist cemetery at Hammond. Mrs. McManus was a sister of James Lewis Bradford, of New Orleans, and Robert H. Bradford, formerly a resident of this town. Her husband, Capt. James Lewis McManus, of Jackson, Miss., who was a veteran of two wars - Mexican and civil - preceded her to the grave several years ago. The surviving relatives include five sons and three daughters, to wit: C.B. McManus, of Donaldsonville; J.L. McManus, of Burnside; Robert and Archibald McManus, of Ponchatoula; John McPhearson McManus, of Slidell; Mrs. Wm. Sample, of Ponchatoula, and Mesdames D.W. Wolf and (Dr.) Rodwell, of Hammond. A fourth daughter, Mrs. Lewis Sims, died some time ago. To the bereaved family The Chief begs leave to tender assurances of sincere sympathy.
