(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, March 04, 1905, Image 4 Death of Antoine Montecino. Antoine Montecino, a native of this parish and for over fifty years a resident of Donaldsonville, died at his home at the corner of Chetimaches and Opelousas streets at 9:15 o'clock Tuesday morning, aged 79 years and 8 months. Mr. Montecino had been in poor health for a number of years, and while his death was not unexpected, it was none the less severe shock to his family and many friends. His remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery at 10 o'clock Wednesday forenoon, after services at the Church of the Sacred Heart. Mr. Montecino peddled meat, chickens, bread and eggs in and around Donaldsonville up to a few years ago, when failing health compelled him to give up the occupation he had followed for so many years, his son, Gerard, succeeding him in the business. He was honest and straightforward in his dealings and enjoyed the esteem and respect of all who knew him. He is survived by four sons, Louis, Gerard, Paul and Anthony Montecino, besides a number of grandchildren and other relatives. To the bereaved family The Chief proffers sincerest sympathy.
