Death of Mrs. Augustin Montero, Sr. - Mrs. Augustin Montero, Sr., nee Mary 
Gonzales, aged fifty-three years and nine months, died at 7 o'clock a. m. [big 
ink smudge] urday, the 9th inst., at the residence of her son-in-law, Arthur 
Hartrampf, in Napoleonville. Mrs. Montero was a native and practically life-long 
resident of Ascension, but had made her home with Mr. Hartrampf and family for 
the past eight months. She had been ill for some time and her death was not 
unexpected, although proving a great blow to her relatives.

The funeral took place Sunday afternoon upon the arrival of the 4 o'clock T. and 
P. Napoleonville branch train, interment being made in the family tomb in the 
Catholic cemetery after impressive services at the Ascension Catholic church.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Montero leaves five sons and two daughters, namely: 
Augustin, Jr., Thomas, Charles, Dudley and Louis, and Mrs. Arthur Hartrampf and 
Miss Stella Montero. She is also survived by her father, Jos. Gonzales, residing 
about two miles from Donaldsonville on the west bank of Bayou Lafourche; a 
brother, Adam Gonzales, of Brusly McCall; and four sisters, Mrs. G. Carmouche, 
of Belle Alliance; Mrs. John Nicholls, of Plaquemine, and Mrs. Theodore Loland 
and Mrs. Jos. Messina, of Donaldsonville. The sincere sympathy of the entire 
community goes out to the afflicted ones in their sad bereavement.
