(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871 - current, May 26, 1917, Image 2 Death of Seal Marchand. - Ascension lost a good citizen when Seal Marchand laid down the burden of earthly cares and embarked upon that fateful voyage from which there is no return. After an illness of seven years, death came to him at 7:30 o'clock Thursday night at his home in Crevasse Settlement, and his remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Donaldsonville Catholic cemetery at 5 o'clock the following afternoon, the funeral obsequies being attended by many relatives and friends who came to evince their sorrow at his demise and to pay a tribute of respect to his memory. Mr. Marchand had attained the age of 45 years and 7 months. He is survived by his wife, nee Louisiana Himel; two brothers, Paul and Roman Marchand, of Belle Helene; and four sisters, Mrs. W. J. O'Neil, Mrs. P. L. Braud and Miss Alexandrine Marchand, of Belle Helene, and Mrs. Alcee Boudreaux, of Reserve. The Chief joins in extending condolences to the bereaved family.
