MARKS PASSES AWAY. - Saturday, October 25th, at 4 o'clock P. M., William Augustin Marks, aged 57 years and 10 months, died in New Orleans at the home of his son, after an illness of several weeks. Deceased was a native of this parish and was the oldest son of the late William Marks, a prominent citizen of Assumption. Deceased was prominent in the politics of the Republican Party and for many years held a Federal position in the United States mint in New Orleans. He resided for a few years in Lockport where he was in business, and at the time of his death he was in the employ of the Tunnerized Roofing Company of New Orleans. He was married four times and leaves six children, among whom are Mrs. Charles Heno and Mrs. Walter Ohlmeyer of this parish. He is also survived by his venerable mother, Mrs. William Marks and two brothers, Col. John and Robert L. Marks and two sisters, Mrs. Alcee Aucoin and Mrs. S. A. Alleman. Funeral services and interment were held at Assumption Church, Plattenville, and was largely attended by relatives and friends. source: The Donaldsonville Chief.
