Mason, the well known land lawyer who has resided for many years near Hope Villa, in the parish of East Baton Rouge, died there last night from heart disease. He had been in poor health for some time, but was not supposed to be in any immediate danger, and the news of his death was wholly unexpected. Judge Mason was to have been here to-day to prepare the necessary papers for proving up the claims of a number of settlers on public lands in the tenth ward, the cases having been assigned for next Monday and Tuesday. Deceased was advanced in years, but we do not know his precise age.
