(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871 - current, February 25, 1905, Image 4 Death of Arthur Michel. - Arthur P. Michel died at his home on Belle Terre plantation at 3:30 o'clock p. m. last Sunday, aged 58 years, 5 months and 18 days. Mr. Michel was a native of this parish and had been employed as an overseer on Belle Terre for the past twenty-seven years, being regarded as one of the most efficient cultivators of the soil and able handlers of labor in this section of the state. J. Elphege LeBlanc, manager of Belle Terre, had been associated with Mr. Michel for twenty-six years, and reports that during all that time the relations existing between him and his assistant were of the most friendly nature and that Mr. Michel never failed to perform his every duty in a most thorough and satisfactory manner. Mr. Michel had been sick for only a few days with pneumonia and may probably have recovered, but the death of his devoted wife Thursday of last week greatly aggravated his condition and made the end inevitable. His remains were laid to rest in the Donaldsonville Catholic cemetery at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon, being placed beside those of the noble woman who for over twenty- five years had been at his side in sunshine and shadow, in calm and storm, and who had been to him all that a loyal woman can be to a devoted husband. Mr. Michel is survived br (sic) one son, Arthur P. Michel, Jr., three daughters, Irene, Marie and Adele Michel, four brothers, Ozeme, Joseph, Homer and Francois Michel, and four sisters, Widow Baptiste Mollere, Mrs. Arthur Gauthreaux, and Misses Lise and Carmelite Michel. To the stricken family and more particularly to the bereaved children, who within one short week were deprived of the tender protection of a devoted father and a loving mother, The Chief tenders assurances of the most profound sympathy.
