(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871 - current, November 12, 1904, Image 5 Father and Son Cremated at Whitecastle. - Dr. E. F. Trahan's pretty residence in Whitecastle, recently erected at a cost of $10,000, was completely destroyed by fire about 10:15 o'clock Thursday night. Valsin Mire and his son, John Mire, who were taking care of the property during Dr. Trahan's absence in St. Louis, were asleep in the building at the time the fire originated and perished in the flames, their charred bodies having been discovered yesterday morning. It is not known what caused the fire. The remains of Mr. Mire and his son were brought to Donaldsonvile on the 9:10 T. ans P. train this morning and interred in the Catholic cemetery after services at the church.
