(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, October 29, 1910, page 5 William Nelson, an old negro who had been employed as a field hand on the Lemann Company's Peytavin plantation for upwards of twenty years, died suddenly yesterday morning while at work in the field with a gang of laborers. The end came to the old negro while he was astride one of the mules of a team hitched to a plow, and so quietly did he pass away that his fellow workmen did not know he had expired until the plow reached the end of the row and the venerable driver made no effort to turn his team.
