Oschwald. - With deep sorrow we record the death of Mrs. J. G. Oschwald, nee Mary Ann Sutterly, which occurred at noon Thursday at the residence of City Tax Collector Robert E. Dill, in Lessard street, from the effects of a stroke of apoplexy with which the venerable lady was prostrated at about 9 o'clock. Mrs. Oschwald had gone to spend the day with Mr. and Mrs. Dill and was apparently in the best of health when she left her home, the fatal visitation coming upon her without the slightest warning shortly after her arrival at the Dill domicile. She was 70 years of age and a native of Germany, but had lived in this country sincve early youth. During her husband's lifetime the couple resided in Thibodaux, but for the past fifteen years Mrs. Oschwald had made her home in this city with her son, Charles Oschwald, proprietor of the Palace Drug Store and one of the community's most honored and popular citizens. Gracious, gentle and kind, she was admired as well as loved, and the memory of her sweet nature and womanly The remains were taken to Thibodaux night and conveyed to the residence of Mrs. James Frost, from whence the funeral took place at 9:30 o'clock Friday morning, with services and interment in St. joseph's Catholic church and cemetery. A large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives attended the obsequies, and the floral offerings which covered the casket were numerous and beautiful. Mrs. Oschwald is survived by three sons, George Oschwald of New Orleans, Emile Oschwald of Thibodaux, and Charles Oschwald of Donaldsonville, and one daughter, Miss Mary Oschwald, of this city. To these afflicted ones the tender sympathy of a wide circle of friends and acquaintances is extended in the loss of their devoted mother. Though they will miss her kindly presence, her wise counsel and helping hands, yet they should sorrow not. Her life well spent, her duty done, they know she has gone to meet her just reward in the home beyond the skies. Her spirit has returned to its Maker, and safe in the arms of her Saviour (sic) she is at rest and in eternal peace.
