Sam Pinel Passes Away. - Sam Pinel, well-known citizen and carpenter of this 
city, died as his home in St. Patrick street Wednesday night at 9:30 
o'clock, from the effects of injuries which he sustained in a fall Friday of 
last week, aged 63 years and 9 months. While at work on a new building which 
he was erecting for Julien Bartholomey in Claiborne street, he fell to the 
ground from a high elevation, and sustained painful injuries to his right 
hip, and three broken ribs. He was removed to his home and given prompt 
attention, and his condition was not considered serious at the time; but it 
seems that he sustained internal injuries and these togeth with the great 
shock proved too much for his constitution, and despite the fact that 
everything possible was done to relieve him he grew worse until he finally 
passed away. Deceased was a skilled carpenter and builder; a hard-working, 
steady and industrious man, a good citizen and enjoyed the confidence and 
respect of the entire community. His death, under such painful 
circumstances, was a great shock to his large circle of friends. the funeral 
took place Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock, with services at the Catholic 
church and interment in the Catholic cemetery, and was largely attended by 
sorrowing relatives and friends. Deceased is survived by one son and three 
daughters, namely, Furnest Pinel of Harahan, Mrs. Wm. Hebert and Mrs. Jos. 
Vavaseur of this city and Mrs. Emile Dewally of Harahan. The Chief condoles 
with them in their sorrow.
