(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, September 19, 1914, page 5 Death of Prosper Plaisance. - As briefly recounted in last week's Chief, the sad announcement was received here Saturday forenoon of the death of Prosper Plaisance, for many years a successful merchant of Barton, but who for the past several months had been making his home at Bogalusa with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Breitling. Mr. Plaisance had been an invalid since shortly after his removal from Ascension, following a paralytic stroke with which he was afflicted last winter, and his death was therefore not entirely unexpected, although proving none the less a distinct shock to his devoted family and scores of friends. He was a man of the strictest integrity in every relationship of life, honorable and upright in all his dealings with his fellow- man and of most attractive personality and kindly disposition. These qualities won him the respect, confidence and esteem of his friends, neighbors and business acquaintances and the regret occasioned by his demise was widespread and sincere. The remains were brought to Donaldsonville on the T.& P. train arriving here at 3:05 o'clock Sunday afternoon, and after services at Ascension Church were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery. Mr. Plaisance, who had attained the age of sixty-eight years, is survived by two sons, George M. Plaisance, of Birmingham, Ala., and D.W. Plaisance, of New Orleans; two daughters, Mrs. Rufus Breitling, of Bogalusa, and Miss Rose Plaisance; two sisters, Mrs. George Schepp and Mrs. A. Tanguis, of New Orleans; and three brothers, Messrs. Ferdinand and Florian Plaisance, of St. James, and Alfred Plaisance, of New Orleans. Many sorrowing friends extend profound sympathy to the bereaved family. Among the relatives in attendance at the funeral of Prosper Plaisance last Sunday afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Breitling and infant son, Wilber, of Bogalusa; Mrs. George Schepp and sons, George and Charles, Mrs. A. Tanguis, Miss Rose Plaisance, D.W. Plaisance and Alfred Plaisance, of New Orleans, and Ferdinand and Florian Plaisance, of St. James.
