(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, June 02, 1917, page 3 Death of Wesley Proffitt. - After a lingering illness, George Wesley Proffitt died at the family home in Faubourg la Pipe at 8:30 o'clock Thursday night, aged 35 years, 3 months and 14 days. The funeral took place Friday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock, with services and interment in the Catholic church and cemetery. Mr. Proffitt was a young man of agreeable personality and excellent character, and had many friends who were deeply grieved to learn of his untimely demise. He was employed as a clerk in the local postoffice for a long time, but was compelled to relinquish that position several years ago owing to failing health. His wife, formerly Miss Cora Smith of Solitude, La., survives him, together with a small son, George Wesley Proffitt, Jr. Other members of the bereaved family are his mother, Mrs. James H. Proffitt; four sisters, Mrs. Gabe Blanchard, of Alexandria, Mrs. J.I. Landaiche, of New Orleans, Miss Frances Proffitt, of Cottonport, and Miss Ella Proffitt, and one brother, Hiram Proffitt, of Faubourg la Pipe. To these afflicted ones sincere sympathy is extended by the entire community.
