Death of Joseph Richard. - Joseph Richard, a native of this parish, but for 
the past five years a resident of Assumption, died at 1 o'clock last Monday 
morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Valentine Goetz, on Elm 
Plantation, aged 64 years. The funeral took place at 9 o'clock Tuesday 
forenoon from the residence of deceased's son-in-law, Charles LeBlanc, in 
Smoke Bend, services being held at the St. Francis of Assissium Church and 
interment being made in the Donaldsonville Catholic cemetery. Mr. Richard 
was a prominent member of Major Victor Maurin Camp No. 38, U. C. V., and the 
members of that organization attended the obsequies in a body. To the 
bereaved family The Chief tenders assurances of sincere sympathy.
