[volume] (Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, August 25, 1883, Image 3 RODRIGUEZ - In the town of Donaldsonville on Thursday, August 23, 1883, at 2 o'clock A. M., IGNACE RODRIGUEZ, native of this parish, aged about 38 years. Mr. Rodriguez has resided in Donaldsonville many years, and enjoyed the general esteem of the community as a good citizen and an upright man. He was attacked by small pox last week, and although the attending physician did not regard the case severe or necessarily dangerous, as we are informed, the patient was apprehensive of death from the outset, and no doubt this unfortunate condition of his mind had much to do with the fatal termination of his illness. He leaves a wife and five children to mourn him, and the former is greatly affected both physically and mentally by his death. Mr. Rodriguez was a butcher by trade, and for a long time previous to his demise had been engaged in selling meat to the people along Bayou Lafourche, below Donaldsonville, visiting his customers daily in a cart.
