(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, February 07, 1885, page 3 ROGGE - At Island plantation, Iberville parish, La., on Friday, February 9, 1885, at 12 o'clock M., MAGDELENA MENEKE, wife of Wm. Rogge, a native of Lauterberg, Alsace, Germany, aged 40 years, 6 months and 24 days. New Orleans papers please copy. The death of this estimable lady after an illness of only nine days from pneumonia was a terrible shock to her family and friends. A kind, charitable woman of indomitable industry, a dutiful wife and a loving mother, she enjoyed the warmest affection of her kindred and friends and the highest respect of all with whom she was thrown in contact. She leaves a husband and two intelligent and promising young daughters to mourn her irreparable loss, and their bereavement will excito general sympathy. The wives of those well known gentlemen, Messrs. Fred. Rogge of Donaldsonville and Fred. Meyer of Whitecastle, were sisters of the deceased. The funeral took place to-day, the body being transported to Donaldsonville by skiff and interred in the Protestant cemetery.
