(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, April 29, 1882, page 3 On the 17th inst., Amedee Rougeau, a native of this town, died at his residence on Attakapas street at the age of 36 years. He had been confined to his bed since last fall with an affection (sic) of the glandular system, and death proved to him a happy release from long continued and severe bodily suffering. He served in the Confederate army as a member of Winchester's Pelican Battery and was a good and faithful soldier. Recently he belonged to the Cannoneers (sic) of Donaldson and afterwards to the Cofield Guards, being a member of the latter command at the time of his death. The Guards took charge of the funeral and buried their deceased comrade with military honors the afternoon of the 18th inst. Mr. Rougeau left a wife and two children to mourn him.
