[volume] (Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, August 18, 1917, Image 3 Death of Sebastian Sanchez. - After a lingering illness, Sebastian Sanchez, one of the well-known citizens of the Port Barrow community, died at 3 o'clock Monday morning, aged 53 years, 2 months and 20 days. The funeral took place Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, interment being made in the local Catholic cemetery after services at Ascension church, Rev. Father Alphonse officiating. Deceased lived a life of rectitude and usefulness, and at its close leaves behind him a record of good repute that is more valuable than riches and more enduring than monument of marble. He enjoyed the affection of his family and the esteem and confidence of his friends, and these are the things that attest one's worth and constitute the highest eulogy that can be paid to one's memory. Mr. Sanchez is survived by his devoted wife, nee Julia Pardo; four sons, Messrs. Joseph, Henry, George and Lee; six daughters, Misses Theresa, Marie, Mena, Mercedes, Della and Jeanne; three sisters, Mrs. Elphege Prejean of Plattenville, Mrs. Frank Ruiz of Brusly Maurin, and Mrs. Julian Montecino of this city, and one niece, Miss Ernestine Ramirez. The Chief joins in extending sympathy to the bereaved family.
