(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, October 01, 1910, page 1 Died from Grief. - The following special from Napoleonville appeared in last Monday's issue of the New Orleans Picayune: Miss Nailla Simoneaux, aged 18, died at the residence of her parents at Belle Rose yesterday at noon, after an illness of two months. Funeral services and interment took place today at St. Elizabeth Catholic church, Paincourtville. The cause of the death of this young woman is most deplorable and has cast a gloom over the entire community of Belle Rose. Joseph Simoneaux, the father of the young lady, during the February term of court was indicted for arson and tried and found guilty. He was sentenced to twelve years at hard labor in the state penitentiary. From the day of her father's departure to the penitentiary Miss Simoneaux began to show signs of insanity, constantly making inquiries as to her father's whereabouts. In the last two weeks the only hope for recovery held out by the physicians was the sight of her father. A petition for the pardon of Mr. Simoneaux was circulated and presented to the Board of Pardons, accompanied by several letters from physicians of the parish. Yesterday, while en route with the petition, the young lady's condition grew worse, and death came before the liberty of her father could be restored.
