Death of Antoine Sobral, Jr. - After years of invalidism and suffering, Antoine 
Sobral, Jr., son of A. M. Sobral of this city, passed into the Great Beyond at 5 
o'clock yesterday morning at the Touro Infirmary in New Orleans, where he had 
been under treatment for some time. Every resource known to medical science was 
employed in an attempt to curb the ravages of the insidious malady from which 
the young man suffered, but the best efforts of the most skillful physicians 
proved futile to avert the inevitable end or prolong the spark of life. The 
remains were conveyed to St. James yesterday afternoon via the T. and P. 
Railroad, and interment was made in the Catholic cemetery at that place, the 
obsequies being attended by a large gathering of relatives and friends.

Mr. Sobral was a native of St. James parish, and had attained the age of thirty-
seven years. He was a young man of studious habits and retiring disposition, and 
was greatly esteemed for his many lovable traits of character and admired for 
the fortitude and patience with which he bore his burden of pain. Besides his 
father, he is survived by one brother, Joseph Sobral of Whitecastle, and two 
sisters, Mrs. Peter Stifft of New Orleans, and Miss Jacinta Sobral. The sympathy 
of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family in their hour of 
grief.
