We note with regret the death at the Hotel Dieu, New Orleans, in the latter part 
of July, of Emile Louis Soniat du Fossat, elder brother of L. M. Soniat du 
Fossat, the well-known sugar planter of Iberville parish, whose Cedar Grove 
plantation just above White Castle ranks as one of the most desirable sugar 
estates in this section of Louisiana. The brothers have been commonly known by 
the abbreviated family name of Soniat, and for many years have enjoyed the 
esteem of a legion of friends, who join in extending sympathy to the surviving 
brother and other relatives in their bereavement.
