Andre Surez [sic], a native of Assumption parish, but a resident of 
Ascension since infancy, died at his farm in A-Bend Friday, Feb. 18, at 1 
o'clock a. m., aged 73 years and 18 days.Deceased enlisted in the 
Donaldsonville Artillery Sept. 21, 1861, for the war, and served gallantly 
in that command until paroled with the Army of Northern Virginia in April, 
1865. Members of Major Victor Maurin Camp No. 38, U. C. V., of which 
organization Mr. Suarez was a member, attended the funeral, which took place 
Saturday forenoon with services and interment in the Donaldsonville Catholic 
church and cemetery, Rev. Minor Chauvin officiating. Mr. Suarez is survived 
by his wife, to whom sincere sympathy is proffered.
