MILES TAYLOR. - On Wednesday of last weeks, September 24th, Hon. Miles Taylor, whose name is familiar to nearly all of our readers, departed this life at Saratoga, New York, in the 67th year of his age. Deceased came to Louisiana from his native State of New York when quite a young man, and engaged in the practice of law, soon becoming eminent in the profession and the peer of the brightest legal lights that adorned the bar. He also acquired a great influence in political circles and was elected to Congress from the second Congressional District, which position he filled with honor to himself and his constituents until the ordinance of secession was adopted by the Louisiana Legislature, when he resigned his seat in the National Assembly and retired from political life. He had acquired considerable property, owning a fine plantation in this parish and another in Assumption, and of late years resided in the city of New Orleans and devoted himself wholly to his profession. He was an able, honorable and conscientious man - one who never knowingly did any man a wrong - and his life might be held up as a fitting model for young men to emulate.
