Thompson, a colored man aged 40 years, was found on the road leading across Buckner's Crescent plantation, Thursday evening about 7 o'clock. An inquest developed the fact that Thompson had been stricken down by heart disease, while on his way home from the Belleterre plantation, where he had been engaged in whitewashing cabins. The body was taken to the dead man's home, in Port Barrow, and buried the next day.
