Popular Young Man Stricken by Death on Life's Threshold. After a brief illness with pneumonia, growing out of an attack of influenza, Lester Weill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guss Weill, of White Castle, passed away at 1 o'clock p.m. Monday at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. M.F. Bloomenstiel, aged 19 years. From the time Mr. Weill was taken ill it was realized that his condition was serious and every resource at the command of medical science was at once employed in his behalf, but nothing that could be done availed to stay the hand of death and after a brave but hopeless struggle the sufferer passed into the Great Beyond. Mr. Weill came to Donaldsonville from White Castle a few months ago to assist in the management of the Liberty store established here by the firm of Guss Weill & Sons. A young man of magnetic personality, attractive appearance and the highest integrity, he made friends of all with whom he came in contact and a pall of gloom was cast over the community by the sad announcement of his untimely demise. The funeral took place Tuesday forenoon, with services at Bikur Cholim Temple and interment in the Jewish cemetery. Besides his parents, Mr. Weill leaves two sisters, Mrs. Mose Bloomenstiel and [ink smudge] nice Weill, and one brother [ink smudge] lius of the Army Av[ink smudge] stationed at Gerstner Field, near Lake Charles. Sympathy in full measure goes out to those afflicted ones now left to sorrow in the shadow of their deep bereavement.
