Yard, a well-known citizen of the eighth ward of Ascension parish, died at his home in Galvez on Saturday, May 14, at 4 o'clock p. m., after an illness of two weeks with pneumonia, aged fifty- two years. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon, interment being made in the burying ground on the banks of the Amite river in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends. Mr. Yard was a native of Orleans parish, but had resided in Ascension for many years, having conducted a store and cultivated a small farm at Galvez for some time past. He was a member of Kenneth Lodge No. 41, Knights of Pythias, of this city. Besides his devoted wife, Mr. Yard is survived by five small children and a heart-broken mother, Mrs. Josephine Montamat, of Donaldsonville. To these afflicted ones the sincere sympathy of a wide circle of friends and acquaintances is extended.
