Mary Elma Brignac nee Courtney was a midwife from Lake, Ascension Parish, 
Louisiana. She was the wife of Vincent Brignac. Mary Brignac delivered most, 
if not all of the babies for Lake, Louisiana. She kept handwritten records, 
some in journals, some on loose pieces of paper and some on forms, of all the 
babies she delivered.

Mary Elma Brignac nee Courtney was born 14 June 1883 and died 11 June 1959
