(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, December 15, 1883, page 3 lANDRY -- BILLIU An Interesting Event. - Last Thursday morning, the 13th inst., Mr. J. Omer Landry, a native of Ascension parish now residing and doing business in San Antonio, Texas, was united in the silken bonds of wedlock to Miss Lillie Billiu of Lafourche parish, the ceremony being performed at the residence of the bride's venerable mother, on Abby plantation, Rev. R. S. Stuart of Donaldsonville officiating. The marriage of this handsome couple was witnessed by a number of friends, whose cordial congratulations will linger as a pleasing remembrance in the minds of the manly groom and his beautiful bride. The couple departed for their Texas home by Thursday's evening train on the Morgan road, carrying with them a wealth of good wishes for their future happiness, to which the Chief deems it a pleasant privilege to contribute its mite. The following paragraph from the San Antonio Times of last week will serve to show how Mr. Landry is regarded in the home of his adoption: Going To Join The Benedicts. - While a Times reporter was in the City Clerk's office yesterday to get a record of the building permits, he noticed that one had been issued to J. Omer Landry for an addition to his drug store on Alamo Plaza. Now, to any one acquainted with Mr. Landry nothing would have appeared strange or unusual in his applying for a permit to enlarge his store, for he is a well known and popular druggist, with a constantly and rapidly increasing trade, and it would be the first thought of any one, that he was only enlarging to accommodate his largely increesed (sic) stock of drugs, perfumeries, toilet articles, etc., but an enterprising Times reporter thought he "smelt a mice" and set to work in a quiet way to ascertain Mr. Landry's object in building an addition. His industry was rewarded. It has been ascertained on the best of authority that Mr. Landry is going to join the benedicts. Next Monday morning he will leave San Antonio on the 7 o'clock Sunset train for New Orleans, where he will stay a day or two, and then proceed to Lafourche parish, via Donaldsonville. Promptly at 10 o'clock next Thursday morning he will wed Miss Lillie Billiu of Abby plantation, on Bayou Lafourche. Rev. Mr. Stuart, rector of the Episcopal church at Donaldsonville, will officiate. After the ceremony the bridal party will immediately leave for San Antonio, in whose genial soil Mr. Landry will transplant his fair lily of the bayou, and make this his home for a long time to come. Believing Mr. Landry to be a worthy citizen, and regarding matrimony as the best step a man can take in life, the Times in advance extends to him and his intended bride its congratulations. May a full measure of happiness and prosperity attend them, and may their pathway all along be scattered over with rosebuds of delight.
