(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, November 19, 1881, page 3 NEAMS -- HAWKINS At Port Barrow, Ascension parish, La., on Thursday, the 27th of October, 1881, Mr. W.J. NEAMS to Miss PATSY HAWKINS, both of this parish. The bridegroom in this case is one of the popular young colored men of our vicinity, who has so efficiently performed the duties of Deputy Sheriff and Jailor during the past two years, while the bride was among the most attractive and esteemed colored Misses residing in Port Barrow. The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride's mother and was an occasion of much interest to the numerous friends of the contracting parties. We congratulate friend John upon his entry into the ranks of the Benedictine army and hope neither he nor his better half will ever have cause to regret this important venture.
