(Donaldsonville, La.) 1871-current, February 21, 1914, page 2 LEMANN - LANDRY A wedding that united two of Donaldsonville's most prominent and popular young people was performed Wednesday, when Rev. Joseph Marie pronounced the impressive words that joined in matrimony Arthur Lemann and Miss Lee Landry. The ceremony was solemnized at 12:30 p. m. at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred. Landry, which was most beautifully decorated for the occasion with a profusion of cut flowers, pot plants and evergreens. A number of relatives and immediate friends were present, including many guests from New Orleans and other places. The charming bride was given away by her father, and had as her sole attendant her sister, Miss Maude Landry. Monte M. Lemann, of New Orleans, was the groom's best man. A delightful reception followed the ceremony, when congratulations and good wishes were showered upon the newly-mated pair, and their future happiness and prosperity pledged in numerous bumpers of sparkling wine. The young couple left via the steamer Virgie and Mississippi Valley route at 2:10 p. m. for New Orleans, from whence they departed for an extended honeymoon trip to Washington, New York city, Cincinnati and other places. Upon their return they will make their home on Palo Alto plantation. The groom is a member of the Lemann Co., Ltd., who are among the largest land owners and sugar manufacturers in this section of the state, and has charge of the plantations of that concern situated on the west bank of Bayou Lafourche in this parish. he is a young man of admirable habits and exceptional ability, from whom great things are confidently expected by his host of friends, whose circle is limited only by the extent of his acquaintance. The bride is a prepossessing and accomplished young woman, and is thoroughly qualified in every respect to assume her new duties in life according to the highest and best standards. She is very popular in local social circles, and all who know her admire and esteem her for her many lovable traits of character and charms of person. As a testimonial of the popularity of Mr. and Mrs. Lemann, a profusion of handsome presents in cut-glass, silver and other costly wares was tendered them by fond relatives and admiring friends. Our best wishes are extended the happy pair, with the sincere hope that their married life will be one eternal measure of blissful contentment and prosperity, growing ever sweeter with the cycle of the years.
